Michelle Audition: Thursday, July 16th 12pm-4pm At the Underground Theatre in Los Angeles Michelle, 23 Lead role! Michelle is Genuine, a tom-boy, and outcast to the world she is surrounded by. She is a movie nerd and is scared to admit many secrets about herself. She’s told she looks like Kelly Bundy but couldn’t care less. She cares more about being a filmmaker... taking place in 1994, she has grown a newfound love with Quentin Tarantino and admires Watts from Some Kind of Wonderful, her favorite movie growing up. She even dresses like her. Although, she makes friends with drunks who hang out at Dive bars, she would prefer renting movies at a Blockbuster Video and pigging out on skittles, pop corn and Pepsi. Michelle is definitely an outcast in this dark world she is confronted with... not much of the dirty mouth and self-destructive behavior that most of the characters have, she is more introspective, waits to speak unless she has something important to say and would rather observe the moment. Her life changes when she meets April, a 20 year old musician who refuses to become an alcoholic like the rest of her family. April follows her dreams and both Michelle and April build a very intimate relationship. Although, they strike a strong friendship, they are opposites in many ways. April has got the mouth of a sailor, as to Michelle, who isn’t quick to be vulgar. But, at the same time, she is never shocked. Michelle’s perspective of the world is completely opposite of the other toxic characters she encounters in the play. While they all see women as people who should smile, dress nice, be pretty, and stay quiet, when Michelle has to, she speaks up, struggles to not conform to anyone and encourages April to find her own identity. Michelle is a San Gabriel Valley raised girl in Southern California. She is not a specific race. She is just a girl raised in SoCal, so no race or ethnicity requirement. | |
